Best Kind of Home Additions

Many homeowners consider adding space onto their homes. They may want to add a bedroom, more living space, or even additional bathrooms. There are many kinds of home additions that you can consider for your home. There are some cheaper options when it comes to home additions and some that are more expensive. It all depends on the type of home additions you are looking into.

Going the Conventional Route

Do you want to stick with the conventional type of home addition? This is when multiple rooms are added onto one side of your house. These are open up to the house. If they are built correctly, they can look as if they were originally a part of the home. Some of the conventional home additions include dining rooms, great rooms, bathrooms, family rooms, master bedrooms, and guest bedrooms. Sometimes a kitchen is a part of the conventional addition, but not very often. The conventional addition can be quite expensive. It depends on how many rooms you are adding on and the details of each room you add on, as well.

Bump Out or Adding a Room

If you just want to add a room or extend a room this is called a bump out. Most of the time homeowners will do this for a bathroom or a bedroom. In some instances, they are just making the bathroom or bedroom bigger. In other instances, they may be adding on a full bathroom or bedroom. These types of additions need a roof-line added on. They aren’t as expensive as conventional additions. However, they still aren’t the cheapest additions you can get. You will still need to get permits for adding on a room.

Adding a Sunroom

You can add a sunroom to your house, too. This is generally put onto the front or side of the house. Most homeowners will have this area closed off from the house with attached doors. They may have a sitting area in their sunroom for visiting with guests or just enjoying the outdoors. These aren’t generally as big as a conventional addition. They are usually made with pre-fabricated products that are made on-site. In some instances, they can be made with materials that match up with the house.
